Katko on the Mass Shooting in Buffalo, NY
WASHINGTON, DC – Rep. John Katko (R-NY), Ranking Member of the House Committee on Homeland Security, issued the following statement on the mass shooting at a supermarket near Buffalo, New York this afternoon.
“It is devastating to hear of the mass shooting at Tops supermarket in nearby Buffalo this afternoon. My thoughts and prayers are with the loved ones of those who lost their lives in this tragic incident. I thank the brave first responders who put themselves in harm’s way to take the suspect into custody and protect their community from further violence. As law enforcement officials at the federal and local levels have stated, there are indications that this heinous act was racially-motivated. As Ranking Member of the House Committee on Homeland Security, I will continue to monitor this investigation and support federal, state, and local law enforcement as they seek justice for the victims and the community.”
